Title: The Effect of Food Deprivation on Orexin and Melanin Concentrating Hormone
This experiment examines the effect twenty-four hour food deprivation has on orexin and melanin concentrating hormone (MCH), two neuropeptides expressed in the lateral hypothalamus that are responsible for increasing food intake. Through immunohistochemical processing and double labeling techniques, we are able to determine the extent to which these two neuropeptides are activated in the brain during food deprived states.
