Tech Tips for the end of the Academic Year

As impossible as it may seem, classes end this week, and exams are right around the corner. Shortly, BC’s Class of 2011 will be leaving Chestnut Hill for the “real world,” and most other students will be heading to their homes or other locations for the summer. Faculty and staff may be spending more time away from campus in the coming months, as well.
As the academic year comes to a close, here are some things to keep in mind regarding technology at BC.
Spring Cleaning Tips
Learn some helpful tips on keeping your computer clean and up to date – clean up your hard drive, email, web browser, and your computer itself to get a fresh start with technology this spring.
Graduating Students
Students graduating in May will have access to their BC email, MyFiles accounts, the BC Portal, and more until October 1. Learn more here.

If you have a Mac, you should:
- Step 1: If you acquired them from Boston College, transfer ownership of your Microsoft Office and Windows operating system.
- Step 2: If you acquired Acrobat Reader from Boston College, uninstall it from your laptop.
- Step 3: Uninstall Sophos and McAfee anti-virus software from your computer.
- Step 4: Purchase anti-virus protection.
If you have a PC, you should:
- Step 1: If you acquired these from Boston College, transfer ownership of your Microsoft Office and Windows operating system.
- Step 2: If you acquired these from Boston College, uninstall some programs from your laptop.
- Step 3: Uninstall ePO and McAfee VirusScan from your computer.
- Step 4: Purchase anti-virus protection.
