To call a student or a faculty/staff member with a number starting with:

 656   Dial 6 + 4-digit extension
 655   Dial 5 + 4-digit extension
 552   Dial 2 + 4-digit extension

Off-Campus Dialing Instructions

 Local (617 & 781)
 Dial 9 + area code + 7-digit number

 Toll free (800, 877, 888)
 Dial 9 + 1 + 8xx + 7-digit number

Long Distance - Business Dialing Instructions

Use your Long Distance Access Code to make long distance phone calls for business purposes.

Dial *99 (stuttered tone) + LDAC (dial tone) + 9 + 1 + area code + 7-digit number

Long Distance - Personal Dialing Instructions

The University asks that you use a long distance calling card or your own cellular phone to make personal calls. You may use your LDAC to call home once per day.

To access voicemail:

On-campus  dial 2-4006
Off-campus  dial 617-552-4006

You will be prompted to enter your extension (last 5 digits of your BC phone number) and your 5 to 8 digit PIN (not your alpha/numeric password).

Voicemail via the Web

You can listen to your messages and set preferences via the Web. http://vmail.bc.edu

Conference Calling

Conference Bridge numbers, which allow two to 10 callers to connect, and speaker phone sets can be reserved through ITS Voice Services.

  • Reservations for a Conference Bridge must be made at least 3 days in advance.
  • Reservations for the Speaker phone must be made at least 5 days in advance.

The portable systems allow the user to hold a video conference in any room on campus that has a network connection.  Appropriate for 2 to 3 participants.

Video Conferencing from your Office Computer

Face-to-face conferencing with one other person is possible from a personal computer providing both participants are equipped with a camera and conferencing software. Not all BC computers are properly equipped; cameras and software may be purchased separately. Please schedule an appointment with your Technology Consultant for a consultation.
