The ITS Systems Management Group offers the following services to the BC user community:
New Server - Request a New Server.
Backup & Recovery - We back up your system for you and restore lost data.
Security - Protection of all data stored in the Data Center.
Monitoring - 24/7, 365 days-a-year System performance monitoring.
Server patching - Update servers with the latest vendor security releases.
DNS Entries - Domain Name Servers to translate server names & web addresses into TCP/IP addresses.
The Mission of ITS Systems Management Group is to provide a robust, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable computing environment in support of all the academic and administrative needs of the Boston College user community.
All those within ITS partner with the Systems Management Group to deliver services to the BC user community. The Systems Management Group works hand-in-hand with Networking, Security, Database Administration, Production Services, and Application Services. Each group is an integral component to the successful delivery of high level services to the BC user community.
These services range from a basic server installation and its maintenance, to the more complicated tasks of data recovery and system configuration management.
Some groups depend on the Systems Management group for specific services:
- The TC organization looks to the Systems Management group for support of Microsoft’s Active Directory.
Numerous groups both in and outside of ITS depend on the group’s ability to supply centralized file sharing that is available campus-wide.
The group supports servers hosting numerous websites for ITS and other departments.
