Computer Operations has the role of the traditional data center 24 X 7 operations.  The Operations group consists of 12 Operators and a Supervisor.  There are three 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, and two 12-hour shifts on weekends.  The group is responsible for:

• Server and application monitoring
  
• Coordination of hardware repair
• Inventory management
• Reporting Service outages
• Problem escalation
• Printing reports as needed
• Remote Hands
• Rack equipment; rack cabling, and running fiber channel cables
• Metrics reporting
• Handling Help Desk calls off shift (after 7 PM and on weekends)
• Energy management for data center
