Help Center Computing Tutoring Services

The Help Center is proud to introduce our new service to BC students. The Help Center now offers private tutoring on popular software usage.  We offer tutoring on the following programs:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Powerpoint

The computing tutoring service is a "peer" tutoring service, our EagleTech student staff have been chosen to be tutors based on their expertise and knowledge of most of the popular software programs. We believe all members of the BC Community can benefit from this service and get the help they need on the "how to" features of the particular software.

Advantages of Computer Tutoring

  • To gain a better understanding of the software and how to use the features for everyday computing or as a tool for coursework
  • Tutee's can ask questions of our Tutors and get hands on practice
  • To become less anxious about how to use certain programs
  • To become more prepared and more effective in class preparation

Tutoring Polices

  • Peer tutoring service is free to members of the BC Community

What to expect from our tutors

  • They will engage the tutee about the specific areas of the software they need to learn about
  • A customized session based on the tutee's specific learning needs
  • The tutor's will ask further questions of the tutee about what they expect to get out of each session
  • Tutors will help the tutee transfer learned knowledge into their coursework or everyday work

What not to expect from our tutors

  • Our tutors will not do your homework/project work for you
  • Our tutors do not tutor in academic coursework the Connors Family Learning Center is the place to go to for help in coursework (see their website for more information at www.bc.edu/connors)
  • Our tutors know most things about software but not everything about the software but we strive to do our very best to help each student learn at their own pace
  • Our tutors will help in clarifying information about how to use your software effectively
