Data Collection Process for APR Departments

Institutional Research supports the APR process by assisting units with their data collection and reporting needs, primary to the internal and external environment components of the self-study. IR will meet with teams to help identify: What does the team want to know? (the research question) and How will the team find the answers to what they want to know? (the research methodology). Teams generally choose one of three research methodology options: a survey, a focus group, or the analysis of existing information (i.e., data mining). Based on the team’s choice, IR will develop a plan, conduct research, and deliver a report to the team for incorporation into their self-study.
