Boston College’s commitment to internationalization lies at the core of its educational mission.  The Jesuit liberal arts tradition, fostered through the links between Jesuit scholars across the world since the 16th century, is at its core international.

Liberal arts studies past and present respond to the large questions and challenges that we all face, and those are inherently global in scope.  Internationalization serves as a key element in our continuing pursuit of excellence – in the quality of our teaching and curriculum, in our innovative and cross-disciplinary research, and as a community that is open to the world and committed to social justice.

Our direction for the future is expressed in one of Boston College's seven fundamental strategic goals - "to become a significant intellectual and cultural crossroads by leveraging Boston College’s international resources and partnerships and its Jesuit and Catholic networks."

Boston College (BC) students are able to choose from more than 140 programs around the world on six continents, in virtually every discipline. All study abroad is considered to be integral to a comprehensive and holistic undergraduate experience at BC. Students gain skills and knowledge which help them become more globally competent and prepared for post-graduation career opportunities. To provide students with the utmost academic flexibility, students can select semester and full-year study with BC or approved external programs. Please see below for details regarding the nature of each program type.
