From the drop down menu, select “Voice Board:”
Voice Discussion boards allow instructors and students to speak a language while reading it at the same time. They also provide threaded voice discussions about any subject. Voice boards are great for brainstorming and collaborating on topics in any language as instructors and students post vocal messages and accompanying text into voice-based message boards. Discuss many subjects at once by making new threads related to your topic.
To add a Voice Discussion Board to your Blackboard Vista course website, perform the following steps:
Make sure that your headset with microphone is attached to your computer, or make sure that your internal microphone is able to adequately record the message that you wish to post.
Log in to your course website at cms.bc.edu and click on the “Build” tab in the menu bar at the top of your screen; then click on the “Add Content Link” tab:
The “Voice Board” window will appear. Select “Create Voice Board:”
When prompted, type a title for your Voice Board and click “continue.”
Next, the Create Voice Board Window will appear; you may leave the default settings in place or specify further preferences. The title that you entered in the previous step will appear as the title. Click Continue:
Blackboard Vista automatically adds an icon to your homepage with the title of your Voice Board next to it:
Now the Voice Board is in place on your course website. To create a message, click on the Voice Board icon on your home page (if you are in the “Build” or “Teach” tab, then click on the drop down arrow next to the Voice Board icon and click “preview”). A new Voice Board window will appear. On the left side of this window, click “Setup Wizard” in order to test your computer for compatibility with Voice Board:
Follow the instructions that the Setup Wizard gives you and click “next” to progress through its steps until it finishes. When it finishes, you will see the message “Congratulations you have passed the wizard;” then click “Finish.”
The wizard window will disappear leaving the Voice Board window visible; click “Launch Voice Board:”
The Voice Board will appear; click “New:”
The Compose Window will open; type in a subject title and any text that accompanies your voice message, and then click the red button to record your message; speak your message into your microphone. When you are finished click the square button icon to end your message. Then click “Post”:
Your message is now posted and will be listed in the Voice Board (you can always access the Voice Board by clicking on the Voice Board icon on your homepage). Click on the title of your Voice Board message to hear it:
