The Patient Assignment Game was envisioned by Robin Wood in the Connell School of Nursing. Dr. Wood wanted to create an interactive simulation for post-Masters-level nurse educators. Simulating a clinical environment, users practice making patient assignments. Users play the game by pairing hypothetical students with patients on a typical clinical day. They also have the ability to revise the assignments when unexpected events ensue.
MTS and Kennedy Resource Center staff who assisted in the development of the Patient Assignment Game contributed original photography of students and clinical nurses. Instructional Design and eTeaching Services staff created graphics, designed, and developed in Flash to create an interface resulting in an interactive game that can be used in a number of nursing courses.
