Paycheck Advice Information Online

Electronic Paycheck Advices

Beginning December 14, Boston College employees will be able to view their paycheck advice (paystub) information online at the University's Agora web site. The Agora screens will contain all the information available on the existing paper advices and will include current pay period information as well as year-to-date paycheck information.

This is the first step in a plan to replace the currently mailed or hand-delivered paper payroll advice forms with online information for all faculty, administrators, office/clerical, and student employees. In March, paper paycheck advice information for these employees will no longer be distributed.

Many employees paid on an hourly basis who generally do not have easy access to desktop computers — such as those in Dining Services, Facilities Services, and the Police Department — will continue to receive the paper payroll advice sheets, although their information will be available through Agora as well.

This should be a much more convenient way for employees to receive and organize their paycheck advices. Employees will be able to access their electronic paycheck advices from their offices or homes any day of the week between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. In addition, current paycheck information will be available through Agora sooner than previously available with paper advices.

The new system will eliminate the need to mail paper advices to employees' homes or have most of the department representatives come to the Service Center to pick up the advices and then hand-deliver them throughout their office. When the new process becomes operational in March, online advice availability will reduce the mailing or distribution of payroll advice forms from the current level of 16,000 per month to 4,000 per month. The shift to the electronic payroll advice system represents a continuation of the PeopleSoft project to streamline the BC payroll system and is a natural next step in our direct-deposit efforts.

This project was a collaborative effort between Human Resources and Information Technology. In addition, a University advisory team, consisting of Mary Ellen Fulton (Assistant Dean, Finance and Administration, Lynch School of Education), Chris Cordella (Director of Operations, Student Services), Marcela Norton (Employee Relations Officer, Dining Services), and Chris Baker (Manager, Office Support Services, Facilities Services), worked on the project.

Commencing with the December 14 pay period, employees wishing to access their salary advice information should log on to the Agora system through the BC Info page. Once the appropriate password information is entered, select "U-View — Your Personal Records" from the drop-down menu under your personal selection menu. A variety of information options will be displayed, including "Job Information," "Benefits Information," "Paycheck Advice Information, and "Year-to-Date" payment information.

To view your paycheck advice information, check the box labeled "Paycheck Information," then click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. Employees who wish to print their paycheck advice will be able do so by clicking the "Print Option" indicator on the screen display. Online paycheck advice information will be saved for 18 months.

The Agora Employee Job and Benefits screens have been redesigned and improved, and new information has been added to them. Questions or comments about electronic advices may be sent to hr@bc.edu.
