Uninstall Old Versions of McAfee VirusScan

prior to installing the newest version from boston college

On this page, learn how to remove previous versions of McAfee VirusScan anti-virus software using:

 

Remove previous versions of McAfee VirusScan from Windows Vista or Windows 7

  1. DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet to prevent infection while your computer is unprotected.
  2. Click Start, then select Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Programs and Features (see Figure 1).

  4. Scroll through the list of installed programs and click on McAfee VirusScan.
  5. Click Uninstall (see Figure 2).

  6. When asked if you are sure you want to uninstall McAfee, click Yes (see Figure 3).

  7. When the User Account Control window pops up, click Allow. Windows will complete the uninstall of McAfee.
  8. Restart your computer.

Once you have successfully removed previous versions of McAfee anti-virus software, you may proceed with the installation of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise edition, the required Anti-Virus software for Boston College.


Remove previous versions of McAfee VirusScan from Windows XP or 2000

  1. DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet to prevent infection while your computer is unprotected.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and select Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Scroll through the list of installed programs and click McAfee VirusScan.
  5. Click Remove or Change/Remove (see Figure 4).

  6. When asked if you are sure that you want to remove the application, click Yes or OK.
  7. Restart your computer.

Once you have successfully removed previous versions of McAfee anti-virus software, you may proceed with the installation of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise edition, the required Anti-Virus software for Boston College.
