Changing Your Password, PIN, and Challenge Questions

NOTE: BC Gmail requires using your Secondary Password, which is different from your BC password!


Change Your Password

Through Agora Portal, you have the option to change your BC Password to one of your choosing. If you use a computer that is on the BC Domain (most faculty and staff BC-owned Windows computers are on the BC Domain), you will need to follow separate instructions to change your BC Password, for both on and off campus. Faculty and Staff who are using computers with PGP Encryption must also follow separate instructions.

Change your BC Password on a PGP Computer (Authentication Required)

Note: Do not leave your password written on a piece of paper or share it with anyone else. Your password and other security credentials are confidential and should be protected.

Reset your BC Password on a Windows Computer on the BC Domain, ON CAMPUS

Most faculty and staff with BC-owned Windows computers are on the BC Domain.

  1. Turn off all mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.), that you use for BC services.
  2. Close any desktop email programs that you use for BC Email (e.g. Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird). Connect to the BC Network. Use the wired network if possible.
  3. Log into your computer using your current BC Password.
  4. Log into Agora Portal, select the My Services Tab, and then select Change BC Password.
  5. Follow the steps on the screen to change your BC Password.
  6. Once you have successfully changed your password, lock your computer (Ctrl+Alt+Del>Lock). Do not restart your computer yet.
  7. Unlock computer using your NEW BC Password.
  8. Wait 5 minutes, then reboot your computer, and log in using your new BC Password.
  9. You will receive a confirmation email that your password has been changed.
  10. If your old BC Password is saved on any mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, update these devices with your new BC Password.

Reset your BC Password on any Non-Domain Computer, ON CAMPUS or OFF CAMPUS

Most personally-owned computers, including both Windows and Mac computers.

  1. Turn off all mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.), that you use for BC services.
  2. Close any desktop email programs that you use for BC Email (e.g. Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird).
  3. Log into Agora Portal, select the My Services tab, and then select the Change BC Password link under Account and Personal Info.
  4. Follow the steps on the screen to change your BC Password.
  5. You will receive a confirmation email that your password has been changed.
  6. If your old BC Password is saved on any mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, update these devices with your new BC Password.
  7. This will NOT change how you log onto your computer.

Change your BC Password on a Windows Computer on the BC Domain, OFF CAMPUS

Most faculty and staff with BC-owned Windows computers are on the BC Domain.

  1. Turn off all mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.), that you use for BC services.
  2. Close any desktop email programs that you use for BC Email (e.g. Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird).
  3. Log into your computer using your current BC Password.
  4. Connect to BC VPN.
  5. Log into Agora Portal, select the My Services tab, and then select the Change BC Password link under Account and Personal Info.
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to change your BC Password.
  7. Once you have successfully changed your password, lock your computer (Ctrl+Alt+Del>Lock). Do not restart your computer yet.
  8. Unlock your computer using your NEW BC Password.
  9. Wait 5 minutes, then reboot your computer, and log in using your new BC Password.
  10. You will receive an email notification that your BC Password has been changed.
  11. If your old BC Password is saved on any mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, update these devices with your new BC Password.

Change your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) provides access to the voicemail system and U-Dial for student course registration. Change your PIN to one of your choosing by completing the following steps:

  1. Log into Agora Portal, select the My Services tab, and select the Change PIN link under Account and Personal Info.
  2. Follow the steps on the screen to change your PIN.
  3. You will receive an email notification that your PIN has been changed. Remember, your PIN is confidential. Do not leave it written on a piece of paper or share it with anyone else.

Set Your Challenge Questions

Challenge Questions are used to verify your identity in the event you forget you password or PIN. You are required to set answers to three challenge questions, such as your favorite color or your favorite food. Your answers will allow BC Information Technology Services staff to confirm your identity and reset your PIN or password.

To set your Challenge Questions, complete the following steps:

  1. Log into Agora Portal, select the My Services tab, and select the Change Challenge Questions link.
  2. Follow the steps on the screen to change your Challenge Questions.
  3. Click on the Submit Q&A button.
