Mac OS X Mavericks (v. 10.9) at Boston College

Apple released Mavericks (v. 10.9) commercially on October 22, 2013. Learn more from Apple.

Currently, ITS is testing this release with BC supported applications (and waiting for vendors to update their software to be compatible). Please note that Mavericks (v. 10.9) has some known compatibility issues with the software and services you use on campus. Because of these incompatibilities, it may be in your best interest not to upgrade now, unless you have a specific need to use Mavericks.

All new high-end laptops (15” Macbook Pro) distributed through the BCCR program have Mavericks (v. 10.9) installed on them.

How can I upgrade my computer to Mavericks (v. 10.9)?

Mavericks can be downloaded for free using Software Updates or via the Apple Store. Before you upgrade, make sure your computer and all your other software is compatible with this version.

If you have issues with Mavericks (v. 10.9), contact the Help Center (617-552-4357 or help.center@bc.edu) for assistance.
