Creating an Account on www2.bc.edu
how to create an account.
PLEASE NOTE: If you already had an account set up on the old www2 server, there is no need to set up a new account. Any content in your old account will have been migrated over to your new account.
- Go to www2.bc.edu.
- Click on the Create an Account icon.
- Log on with your BC username and password.
Your BC information will be pre-populated. This new directory is created by looking up your username in the LDAP directory and getting your first and last name and inserting a dash "-" between them.
The www2 web directory name will change from the "tilde bc username (~username)" convention to "firstname-lastname".
For example, www2.bc.edu/~ossian will change to www2.bc.edu/david-ossian. If you have a number in your email address, it will use that as well. For example, david-smith-2.
Click the "Register" button.
Your new directory has now been created.
A "redirect" has also been added to the old directory so if anyone goes to your old www2.bc.edu/~username site, they will automatically be redirected to the new site. This redirect will stay in place for 6 months.
You are now ready to use your WebDav client to manage your site. For more information on how to do that, click the "Next" button, below.
