Configuring Dreamweaver
for myfiles @bc hosted websites
This article describes how to configure Adobe Dreamweaver to connect and edit Boston College websites.
- Create a new folder on your hard drive where you will store all of your web files.
- Give the folder a meaningful name such as webwork or deptsite.
- Remember where you put the new folder because you will need to find it during the configuration process.
- Launch Dreamweaver on your computer.
- From the Dreamweaver toolbar, select Site > New Site...
- You will now see the Site Definition window. Click on the Advanced tab.
Local Info
- Select Local Info from the left side categories.
- In the Site Name field, type in a descriptive name such as webdev or webwork.
- In the Local Root Folder field, click on the folder icon. Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.
- Build your web pages and related files in Dreamweaver locally.
MyFiles@bc Info
- Log in to MyFiles@bc.
- Create a folder as you normally would in your MyFiles@bc space.
- Upload your files to MyFiles@bc:
- Windows
- Open up Web Folder access to your new MyFiles@bc folder.
- Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.
- Drag and drop the web files you created into your MyFiles@bc web folder.
- Mac
- Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.
- Upload your web files individually via the MyFiles@bc application interface.
