Forwarding Your Email
to another email address
Faculty and staff
You can automatically forward all of your BC email to another email address. This feature is useful when you have more than one email account and you want to make sure that your email is sent to the account that you use the most.
Note: By default, Spam Control is turned on for all forwarded accounts.
Learn how to keep a BC email address after graduating by signing up for Lifetime Email Forwarding.
To set up email forwarding:
- Log into WebMail.
- From the top right, click Preferences.
- Click the Mail Forwarding link.
The Mail Forwarding page appears (see Figure 1).
- Click On.
- Enter the address of the email account you check most often. Example: firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: To enter multiple email addresses to forward to, just separate the email addresses by a comma (,). For example: email@example.com,firstname.lastname@example.org
Caution: DO NOT forward your email to your own BC email address @bc.edu or you will not receive any email because it will be stuck in an infinite loop.
- Do NOT select to keep a copy or limit forwarding.
Warning: If you 'keep a copy' of your email and you reach your quota, your email will NOT be forwarded.
- Click Update.
What happens if I have both Forwarding and Auto Reply turned on?
If you have both Forwarding and Auto Reply turned on, the email address you specified in Forwarding receives all your new email that would normally go to your BC account. A copy of all new email also remains in your BC account and anyone sending email to your BC account will receive the auto reply message you composed.
