Receiving Email in Entourage Web Services

Entourage 2008 — Web Services edition is the only version of Entourage supported by ITS for use in the Exchange environment. However it is not recommended. ITS strongly recommends that Entourage users upgrade to Office 2011 and use Outlook for Macintosh.

Entourage 2008 currently comes installed on BCCR computers but it is NOT the Web Services Edition. You will need to upgrade. To learn about upgrading to the Web Services Edition, please contact your TC (Technology Consultant).

You do not need to do anything special to receive new messages. Entourage will automatically check for and display new messages periodically.  However, you can change how frequently Entourage checks for messages or force Entourage to check for messages at any time.

To change the frequency with which Entourage checks for new messages:

1.  Go to Tools > Run Schedule > Edit Schedules (see Figure 1).

2. Double-click Send & Receive All (see Figure 2).

3. In the "When" section, change the frequency with which you want Entourage to check for mail, then click OK. In the example below, Entourage will check for mail Every 10 Minutes (see Figure 3).

4. Close the "Schedules" window. To check for new messages at any time, click the Send/Receive button in the toolbar (see Figure 4).
