Preparing for Orientation

PLEASE NOTE: This page contains dates and information corresponding to the Summer 2011 Orientation Program.  While these will remain fairly constant for the Summer 2012 Orientation Program, updated information and materials will be posted as they become available.

We suggest you bring the following items to Orientation: watch, alarm clock, casual clothes, comfortable walking shoes, sweater or jacket, umbrella, personal toilet supplies, notebook, pen and pencil, as well as the Academic Planning Workbook and the University Course Catalog (both of which will be mailed to first-year students in mid-May).  Towels, a pillow, and bed linens will be provided in the residence halls for Sessions 1-6.

Students attending Session 7 will move directly into their assigned fall housing and are expected to bring all room accessories.

For students traveling a long distance, lodging is available in the Boston College Summer Guest House for an additional fee the night before or after each session.  Students should visit www.bc.edu/guesthouse to make a reservation at least two weeks prior to arrival.  Parents of students attending Orientation are not permitted to stay in the Guest House.

We will send you detailed information about check-in and parking with your session confirmation notice.

If you have questions, please contact the Office of First Year Experience at (800) 335-5853, or if calling from within Massachusetts, dial (617) 552-3281.

Important Information

During the months of June, July, and August, first year students receive numerous mailings. Please pay special attention to the Planning Guide for First-Year Students, the University Catalog, your University PIN, and the Student Life Packet, which includes your housing and meal plan contracts.
