Inspectional Services

The Inspectional Services Shop at Boston College oversees the inspection of all on-campus facilities, ensuring that BC provides a modern, clean, and safe environment for students, faculty, employees, and visitors. Specific inspections include carpet and flooring, paint, and office renovations and moves.
Carpet/Flooring Maintenance and Renewal
The Inspectional Services Shop evaluates the current conditions of all carpet and flooring on campus. The shop routinely inspects BC properties to determine if carpets must be repaired or replaced.
If you believe your area requires a carpet or floor inspection, please submit a Work Order.
Paint Shop
Inspectional Services is also responsible for evaluating and responding to painting needs on campus. Inspections include the review of both interior and exterior paint conditions. Deficiencies are identified and addressed in concert with the occupants' schedule constraints.
During the summer, the shop focuses on residence hall restorations and preparations for the return of students. Throughout the year, the Paint Shop performs classroom improvements, provides special-event preparation and support, works on academic buildings, and oversees all wall and ceiling restoration projects. An example of ceiling restoration work can be seen in Gasson Rotunda. The shop’s expertise ranges from fine detailed woodwork to restoring the walls in our most historic buildings.
Office Renovations and Moves
Office moves approved by the Office of Space Management are inspected by Inspectional Services. The shop develops and executes an action plan to assure a smooth transition into a new work space, including repairing wall surfaces and performing flooring renewals as necessary.
