What is the purpose of the Hate Crime and Bias-Motivated Offensive Conduct Incident Recording Form?
Incidents reported on this form will be recorded in a database maintained by the Office for Institutional Diversity. OID will use the information in the database to publish an annual report on hate crimes and bias-motivated offensive conduct.
This form is not necessary if you have reported the incident to another campus authority (BCPD, ODSD, Res Life, HR, Deans, etc.) because those reports will be included in the database.
Why should I complete the Hate Crime and Bias-Motivated Offensive Conduct Incident Recording Form?
The form should be completed if you choose not to report the incident to BCPD or another authority but want it recorded in the Hate Crime and Bias-Motivated Offensive Conduct Database.
How do I submit the Hate Crime and Bias-Motivated Offensive Conduct Incident Recording Form?
You can access the form online. It is only available to members of the Boston College community, so you will be asked to provide your BC user name and password when you access it. Once you log in, follow the instructions on the screen to view the form. You can fill it out immediately or save it an fill it out at your convenience. Once it is completed and saved, please send it as an email attachment using your BC email account to Richard Jefferson, Executive Director of the Office for Institutional Diversity, at richard.jefferson@bc.edu. You may also print your completed form and hand deliver it to Mr. Jefferson at the Office for Institutional Diversity, Room 330B More Hall. Forms received via Campus Mail or U.S. Mail will not be accepted.
What is the Hate Crime and Bias-Motivated Offensive Conduct Database?
The database is maintained by the Office for Institutional Diversity. The purpose of the database is to tally incidents and track details related to them. OID will use the data to publish an annual report in order to communicate to the campus community information about campus safety, identify the nature of incidents, and reassure the community that campus authorities are attentive to incident reports.
