The Boston College Bookstore and BC Athletics have joined forces with colleges around the country for Operation Hat Trick (OHT), an effort to support the recovery of wounded soldiers and veterans through the VA General Post Fund through the sale of special merchandise.

Now available at the campus bookstore locations are two styles of OHT hats, both in the BC colors, with the Boston College and Operation Hat Trick logos. A third in camouflage style is due in January. The hats are produced by collegiate headwear manufacturer ’47 Brand.

The merchandise has proven popular after only a few weeks of availability, and BC Bookstore Director Bob Stewart is optimistic that patrons will continue to rally behind this initiative in support of injured service men and women. The program “‘gives back’ to those who serve our country,” he said.

A percentage of the proceeds from OHT merchandise sales goes to the Veterans Administration Medical Center’s General Post Fund, which assists patients and their caregivers. All 152 centers nationwide receive assistance from the fund.
