When is the Fair, and what employers attend?

The Fair attracts employers in Retail, Nonprofits, Education, Science, Communications, Finance, Computers, and other industries.

An advanced copy of the 2013 Internship Fair program, which includes a list of the attending employers, is now available online.

Who should attend the Internship Fair?
Should I go if I'm looking out-of-state?

All classes and all majors are welcome to attend the Fair. Because of space limitations, not all career fields will be represented.

The majority of the employers will be from the Boston area, though a few out-of-state employers may be there. To find out whether or not it will be worth your time to attend the Fair, check the list of participating employers in EagleLink. The list will be available in mid-December. 

The Fair will host about 75 employers over two days.

What do I need to do before the Internship Fair?

Attend our soon-to-be-announced workshops on How to Prepare for and Work an Internship Fair. Sign up in EagleLink.

Get your resume set. Resume workshops are held at the Career Center a few times a week. Once you have a draft of your resume prepared you can come into the Career Center for a resume critique. Set up an appointment for a critique or stop into the Internship Office for drop-ins held Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (arrive by 3:30).

Review the list of employers participating in the Internship Fair in EagleLink.  Research those employers who have positions that interest you.

• Check their web sites.
• Also, find out if there is something written about them in the Internship Review, which includes the commentary of over 400 BC students on internships they have done.
• Look at our Research page.

Know how you'll approach the employer. What do you want the employer to know about you? Which of your skills or past experiences would you like to highlight? Have a short "sales pitch" ready. Think of it as your very own 15-second commercial. Also have some good questions prepared to ask the employer.

What should I wear?

Your style of dress may vary according to the type of field you are considering. The more conservative the field, the more conservative your style of dress should be. If you own a suit, you can wear it to be on the safe side. However, you'll find that some of the employers will not be wearing suits. For most female students, nice slacks or a skirt with a simple blouse will be fine. Wear a blazer if you have one. Male students should wear pressed slacks and a pressed shirt. A blazer and/or a tie would be good additions to your outfit.
