The Symphonic Band, one of the latest additions to the comprehensive BC Bands Program, was created in the spring of 2003 by David Healey. This band provides opportunities for musicians of all ability levels to work together in the common pursuit of great wind literature and large-scale orchestral transcriptions. Composed of dedicated musicians from BC and the surrounding community, the Symphonic Band performs an extensive repertoire of exciting and challenging music.

Past performances by the Symphonic Band have featured works as diverse as "Songs from the film Robin Hood," "The American Dream" from Night Visions, and "Danza Final." The aim of the ensemble is to create a transformative experience for the audience while encouraging the musical and artistic growth of its musicians. Under the direction of David Healey, the Symphonic Band performs four shows a year, including a Christmas program and an annual appearance during the Boston College Arts Festival.

The Symphonic Band rehearses twice a week: one full ensemble rehearsal from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. every Tuesday and one smaller sectional, which will be held at the discretion of the Section Leader.
