Below you will find brief descriptions and contact information for the various arts departments and opportunities at BC for your reference throughout the year. On the back, you’ll find some specific information to get involved early!

Theatre Department

An extensive course list in acting, directing, play-writing, design, education, and management. Dance classes in ballet, choreography, sacred dance, and more. The university theater presents six major productions per year. Auditions take place early in each semester for all productions in that semester.

Courses in theory and composition, in the history and current trends of both Western and non-Western music, and lessons in performance. Vocal and instrumental performing ensembles in various musical styles.

Bands Program

Award-winning instrumental and jazz ensemble (BC bOp!), University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and chamber music ensembles. The nationally renowned "Screaming Eagles" Marching Band and Pep Band perform for thousands of fans at Division I football, basketball, and hockey games.

Majors and minors available in Art History, Film Studies (history, criticism/theory, filmmaking/editing), and Studio Art (painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and digital technology). Space reserved for freshman in many classes. Student art work exhibits in Bapst Art Gallery, organized by the Art Club.

Creative writing courses in fiction, poetry, and cretive non-fiction. English majors meeting certain requirements can declare a concentration in creative writing. Other opportunities to get involved include Poetry and Fiction Days, lecture series, student literary publication, and the English Association.
MUSIC INSTRUCTION AND PERFORMANCE
The ensembles listed below are professionally-directed. Student-run organizations include a cappella groups, improvisational theater and comedy troupes, dance organizations, literary organizations, and more. Information about these can be found through the Office of the Dean for Student Development (see below).
