View the Sargent murals at the Boston Public Library!

The Boston Public Library in Copley Square is a wonderful Boston landmark. Many people notice the large bronze sculptures on the outside, representing the Arts and Sciences, but have you ever stepped inside the doors they guard?

At the top of the stairs on the third floor, you can view a series of spectacular murals by John Singer Sargent titled The Triump of Religion. Sally M. Promey writes, "Triumph of Religion stands as a monument to Sargent's complex visual intelligence, his commitment to the American city he loved, and his great hopes for Boston's 'shrine of letters.'" Before you visit, be sure to read more about the Sargent murals and their meaning. The Sargent Gallery is open on weekdays.

Be sure to save a Sargent pamphlet from the library for your Bucket List envelope. Completing the Bucket List will earn you a place in the Bucket of Fame.
