Sarah McDermott

Arts Council Program Administrator and Arts Festival Director

Sarah McDermott is a Boston College alumna who graduated in 2007 with a dual degree in Art History and English. Upon graduation, Ms. McDermott spent five years cultivating a career focused in the arts. She was a Gallery Assistant for two years at the Skinner Auction House in Boston, but left to further her education in the arts by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York City.

After successfully completing her coursework and two internships at Guernsey’s Auction House and a pop-up gallery in the Flatiron District, Ms. McDermott spent the next six months researching and writing her thesis examining the function of Corporate Art Collections in a time of economic recession.

When Ms. McDermott completed her graduate study, she returned to Boston to accept a position managing a contemporary fine art gallery on Newbury Street where she worked for a year and half before returning to her alma mater. She is thrilled to rejoin the BC community in the role of Arts Council Program Administrator and Arts Festival Director.
