Monday, Feb 4th ● 31st Annual MLK, Jr. Scholarship Ceremony

Location & Time: Robsham Theater @ 5:00 p.m.

Event Description: The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship recognizes a Boston College junior who has demonstrated superior academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, community service, and involvement in the African American community on and off campus. The guest speaker is Clayborne Carson.

Wednesday, Feb 13thBHM Panel Series: “Battle of Complexions: The Significance of Skin Color in the Black Community” & “Why Can’t I Say the N Word?”

Location & Time: Gasson 100 @ 5:30 p.m.

Event Description: Battle of Complexions: We hope to discuss the history of skin color and the effects it has had on this specific community in today’s society. Why can't I say the N word: We hope to discuss the history of the use of the word and the effects it had on this specific community in today’s society.

Feb 15th ● African Student Organization (ASO) Presents: Lover’s Lounge

Location & Time: Heights room (Upstairs of Lower Dining) @ 9:00 p.m.

Event Description: This year’s theme is "International Love." Lovers' Lounge is BC’s only interactive dating game show. We’ll have one bachelor or bachelorette, and three contestants fighting for a date. The bachelor or bachelorette will ask their questions, get advice from the audience, and choose a contestant.

Feb 16th ● AHANA Leadership Council (ALC) Ball

Location & Time: Westin Copley Place Hotel @ 9:00 p.m. (Doors close at 10:30pm)

Event Description: This year we have a dazzling surprise in store for you, so come dressed to impress and ready to have fun! You are responsible for your own transportation to the event. Transportation will be provided from the hotel back to campus.

Feb 20thCVSA Presents “Proud to be Cape Verdean: A Look at Cape Verdeans in the Golden State” Documentary

Location & Time: TBD @ 5:30 p.m.

Event Description: This documentary offers oral histories in conjunction with interviews, photographs, and re-enactments that accurately depict the transition of small family gatherings where Cape Verdeans shared their love of cuisine and music grew, inspired and eventually shaped the formation of non-profit Cape Verdean organizations

Feb 21stBSF & GLC Presents “Brother Outsider” Documentary

Location & Time: Gasson 305 @ 6:30 p.m.

Event Description: Documentary highlighting the life of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay civil rights leader and the organizer of the March on Washington.

Feb 22nd BEATS Presents the Black History Month Invitational

Location & Time: Devlin 008 @ 7:00 p.m.

Event Description: A showcase of gospel, R&B/Soul and other music genres influenced by the black experience.  Voices of Imani will be performing with us as well as two other acappella groups from local universities.

Feb 27th FACES presents Speak for Your Change: Identity Mic Night

Event Description: A celebration of racial identity through spoken word, poetry, song, and dance.

Feb 28th BHM Closing Ceremony

Location & Time: Yawkey Center, Murray Function Room @ 5:30 p.m.

Event Description: Concluding the month with a keynote speech by Deacon Arthur Miller from the Black Catholic Ministries.
