Safety Nest

We welcome you to BC's first-ever on-campus support system for students struggling with a loved one's addiction. Together we will foster an open, reliable, and confidential space where we seek to understand ourselves and the role that substance abuse plays in our lives. We invite you to join our conversations as often or as little as you would like. Newcomers are always welcome!

What is Safety Nest?
Safety Nest is a support group for anyone that has been affected by another person's alcohol or drug use. Safety Nest is a safe place to bring your concerns, your questions, and your desire to lead a better life. Together, we learn to face the past, to let go of it, and to lead happy, productive lives in the present.

How does alcoholism affect others?
Alcoholism is a family disease. Many people who were exposed to alcoholism in childhood find difficulties with relationships in their adult life. There are often problems with handling fear, anger, shame, and self-esteem issues.

How will Safety Nest help me?
You will probably hear about a situation much like your own. If you don't find someone with the same set of circumstances, you may still be able to identify with the way many of us feel about the effects of alcoholism and addiction on our lives.

Do I have to speak at the meeting?
If you wish to speak, please do. If you would rather sit and listen, that's all right, too. We say, "Take what you like and leave the rest."
