- Michael Scahill Irish Music Collection

Summary: Michael Scahill (1905-1966) was the second of eleven children born to Patrick and Brigid Scahill, Castlebar, County Mayo. Michael emigrated to New York City in 1928 and met his wife-to-be Margaret Maguire of Garrison, County Fermanagh at an Irish dance. They raised three boys, Frank, James and John in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, N.Y. Michael Scahill was employed as a conductor on the BMT subway line, out of Coney Island. Michael played his records on a turntable acquired in 1938 that plugged into an old-fashioned console radio.
