There may be instances when an instructor would like to show a film that is on reserve for another course. When this occurs, Media or Reserves staff will consult the syllabus or instructor of the other course to determine if the film is needed for that week. This helps ensure that media materials are available for that course.
Items from other media collections
For media not listed on the syllabus, please provide 7 days' advance notice to the Media or Reserves staff. Materials will be placed on the hold shelf at the Circulation Desk located on the 3rd Floor of O’Neill Library.

OFF AIR TAPING
The Media Center offers off-air taping of programs on network television and cable stations to faculty. The Center is connected to cable through the Boston College cable station which has the ability to off-air tape programs from any of the stations that BC Cable subscribes to.
Media staff accept off-air taping requests and schedule taping of programs accordingly. A broadcast program may be retained for 45 consecutive calendar days after the date of recording.
Off-air recordings may be used once by individual faculty in the course of relevant teaching activities and repeated once when instructional reinforcement is necessary during the first 10 consecutive schools days in the 45 day period.
After the first 10 consecutive schools days, off-air recordings may be used up to the end of the 45 calendar day retention period only for teacher evaluation purposes.
After 45 days, in compliance with Copyright law, programs taped off-air will be purchased or erased. If purchased, the title will be added to the media collection.
