Remain Calm and Follow These Instructions

Boston College has an experienced Emergency Team in place. Its members have created a comprehensive set of emergency response procedures to deal with crisis situations and have undertaken extensive training to prepare for emergencies.

In the event of an emergency, the University has the capacity to communicate with all of its students, faculty and staff through e-mail, text messaging, BC Emergency and BC Info websites, as well as its emergency information line at 1-888-BOS-COLL (1-888-267-2655). In addition, our Resident Assistants are trained to alert students in residence halls of any emergency situation.

BC's emergency response team also monitors possible threats at the national and international levels, and will provide information here as warranted.

While no institution is invulnerable to safety threats, we feel that the emergency management teams in place and the procedures under which they operate are designed to make Boston College as prepared and responsive as possible. We reevaluate plans on an ongoing basis with the goal of maintaining a model emergency response system that meets the federal government's National Incident Management System Protocol.

In the event of an emergency, members of the University Community may be asked to follow one of two common procedures:

Evacuation     or     Shelter-in-Place
