irish studies specialist and circulation manager, o'neill library
Kathleen has been engaged in Irish Studies collection development at the Thomas P. O'Neill Library for over fifteen years in support of the Boston College Irish Studies Program. She has personally participated in the program as well, receiving her M. A. in Irish Literature and Culture. At the O'Neill Library Kathleen took the lead in building a strong Irish and Irish-American historical newspaper collection, collecting retrospective works of Irish women writers and documenting the history of the Troubles and the Peace Process.
Collaborating with cataloging staff, Kathleen has created a local collection within the Boston College online catalog to highlight and facilitate access to the titles of many Irish women writers. In addition, she was instrumental in bringing an exhibit to the O'Neill Library featuring five women writers, as well as a virtual exhibit that is accessible through the BC website.
