Positive Identity Politics group

Boston and Salt Lake City played host to a group of thirteen individuals from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for a ten-day study visit. The broad goal of the program was to examine varieties of American political identity and political ideology. Participants had an opportunity to study the ways in which different strands of political thought inform and shape political discourse, political platforms, and political action in the United States. Program participants included politicians, academics, political journalists, and NGO leaders from across the island of Ireland.  Over the course of the two-week program they enjoyed seminars with leading academics, non-profit leaders, grassroots political activists, party representatives, and elected officials. Both the participants and their American hosts had the opportunity to share experiences, exchange best-practice strategies, and to create professional networks and contacts.
