Signature Event Series

A cornerstone program CWBC has undertaken is its Signature Series. The Signature Series is designed to address and analyze topics of critical importance to Council Members as well as the University at large. The inaugural Signature Series was entitled "Why Women Choose to Stay" - a reflection on Women and their Faith which centered on New York Times best-selling novelist Alice McDermott's discussion of her reasons for remaining in a Church whose views of women and their appropriate role in religious life she finds ill-formed and, ultimately, "bigoted". Ms. McDermott shared the panel with a theologian, a graduate student, and a business executive who shared their views and lives as women Catholics. The program struck a passionate cord with alumnae and the broader university as evidenced by sold-out attendance of over 700 individuals.

Following on the success of "Why Women Choose to Stay", the CWBC is currently planning another program in the Signature Series; this will be offered in the near future.
