In a recent letter to the University community, the search committee for BC’s new provost has reported that interest in the position is high, and they expect to present vetted candidates to University President William P. Leahy, S.J., during the spring semester. The committee anticipates that a decision will be made shortly thereafter.
Cutberto Garza stepped down as Provost in June 2013 after eight years of service during which he enhanced the University’s research capability, boosted its academic reputation, and recruited some of BC’s best young faculty. Under the president’s direction, the incoming provost will be tasked with furthering Garza’s accomplishments and improving BC’s ranking among the nation’s top universities.
