Giving Societies

Boston College is thankful for those alumni and friends who provide annual support, at any level, to the University. The commitment of our donors has a significant impact on the University; its students, faculty and staff. The ways in which BC honors annual and sustained support are listed below.
Sustained Annual Giving
The William B. Neenan, S.J., Society was established in 2009 to embrace a community of alumni who consistently support the University at any level. Named in honor of the beloved BC administrator, the Neenan Society recognizes individuals whose collective commitment and impact are so important to the University. Legacy Giving
Established in 1984, the Shaw Society honors donors who make a legacy gift to Boston College. The society is named after Joseph Coolidge Shaw, S.J., who helped found the University through his bequest of nearly 2,000 books and the proceeds of his life insurance policy. Leadership Annual Giving
Several thousand alumni, parents, and friends make leadership annual gifts of $1,000 or more each year, providing Boston College with some $15 million to use in meeting the most critical and immediate challenges facing the University. Boston College acknowledges the important contributions made by leadership annual donors through three donor recognition societies:
Gasson Society
Founded in 2001, the Gasson Society recognizes the many alumni, parents, and friends whose dedication to the heritage and mission of the University is expressed through annual gifts of $10,000 and more. The Gasson Society proudly takes its name from Thomas I. Gasson, S.J., the president who transformed Boston College nearly 100 years ago leading its move to Chestnut Hill.
President's Circle
The President’s Circle, established in 1983, is a community of leadership that continuously affirms its commitment to the core values of the Jesuit traditions at Boston College. President's Circle members make annual gifts of $5,000-$9,999.
Fides Society
The Fides Society, established in 1972, stands as the foundation of leadership support for Boston College. Composed of alumni, parents, and friends who make annual gifts of $2,500-$4,999 (Fides patrons) or $1,000-$2,499 (Fides members), the Fides Society signifies the faith of its members in the University’s mission.
Fides also includes giving levels for GOLD alumni:
1-4 years out $250+
5-9 years out $500+
