BC GOLD Rush Challenge Scholars

Last year six of the 10 BC GOLD classes met the GOLD Rush Challenge.  This means the Class of 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2011 met its participation goals. 

In honor of this accomplishment a $25,000 scholarship named for each class was awarded to the six deserving students featured below.

Nathan Bryant (Class of 2002 Scholar)

Nathan Bryant, is an accomplished first-year student from Topsham, Maine. He is a finance major at the Carroll School of Management. He plays the sousaphone in the “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band and the Pep Band and has joined the Investment Club.

"So far, I love everything about BC. I am so thankful for this scholarship and for the opportunity to study here.”


Estelle Autissier (Class of 2005 Scholar)

Estelle Autissier is an accomplished first-year student from Belmont, Mass.

Passionate about science, Estelle is a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a pre-vet track. She is a member of the Mendel Society and Animal Alliance, and volunteers at Angell Animal Medical Center.

“I love BC—the campus, the atmosphere, the whole experience. I’m so grateful to be here!”

Isaiah Bien Aime (Class of 2006 Scholar)

Isaiah is a returning 2006 BC Gold Rush Scholar, and a junior this year. He’s fascinated by his major, economics, especially by macroeconomics and monetary policy. A Faith, Peace, and Justice minor, he is thinking hard about how both economic theories and social justice work in the real world.

“I have a real vision and understanding of why I’m here, why I’m getting an education, and what I need to do next. I feel like I’m becoming a man.”

Jason Morse (Class of 2007 Scholar)

Jason Morse is an accomplished first-year student from Ashland, Mass.

Jason is majoring in biology at the College of Arts and Sciences. A young man of broad-ranging interests, he is fascinated by computer science and greatly enjoying his philosophy class at BC. He is a member of the Mendel Society and participates in the Peer Health Exchange program.

“It’s so great to be at BC. I love my classes. This place is incredible, and I am so grateful to be here.”

Daniel Schlitt (Class of 2010 Scholar)

Daniel Schlitt is an accomplished first-year student from Ashland, Ohio.

An Eagle Scout as well as salutatorian and president of his high school class, Danny is a physics major in the College of Arts and Sciences.  He has become fascinated with computer science thanks to his BC classes and looks forward to pursuing it further. He has joined the Ski Club and the Outdoor Club.

“I wanted a great liberal arts school that emphasized developing the whole person, and I couldn’t have made a better choice than BC. Thank you for making it possible for me to be here.”


Qian Deng (Class of 2011 Scholar)

Qian Deng is an accomplished first-year student from Monroe, N.Y.

Qian won the Georgia State Spelling Bee as an 8th grader and has continued to be an academic superstar. A finance major at the Carroll School of Management, she participates in Model United Nations and Conversation Partners programs and writes for The Heights. Qian uses her birth tongue, Mandarin Chinese, as a volunteer teacher, translator, and editor.

"As soon as I stepped foot on the BC campus I felt at home. I know I can develop into the person I want to be here. I can hardly express how grateful I am for this scholarship, but I want to say from my heart: thank you so much."
