Hometown: Bloomfield, New Jersey
School: Carroll School of Management
My advisors at Boston College always emphasized that the earlier you start looking into career resources, the more opportunities you’ll have later on. As a freshman I began getting emails from the Carroll School about internships, mock interviews, and resume critiques. The summer after freshman year, I had an internship in investment management operations at Morgan Stanley. It was my first experience in a corporate environment, so I learned a lot about building rapport in a professional environment and developed a strong work ethic.
Sophomore year, I contacted about a dozen alumni to learn more about my field and find out how they got their start in finance. Last summer, I interned at John Hancock. Jazzman Parker ’11 put me in contact with the company’s recruitment coordinator, and the rest was up to me. I have a strong network of professional connections and advisors. Now that I’m about to graduate and enter the job market, I’m confident that I’ll find a job in my field.
