Soon! PLATE CHAMPIONS After an extremely successful season with their only loss to Army, BCWRFC went to Dartmouth to compete in the Plate Championships Nov. 5-6. They first played Cortlandt, from the NY Division, and came out with a solid win 22 -7, dominating a much larger team by retaining possession of the ball throughout most of the game. This qualified the team for the championship game on Sunday, where they faced off with home team Dartmouth. Their domination was apparent again, scoring all but one of their tries in the first half and coming out on top with a 29 - 5 win. This is BWRFC's second consecutive Plate Title; last year, they won in Division 2, and this year in Division 1. Fall 2011 BC is off to a great start for the Fall season. After handily defeating Tufts in a preseason match, they faced off against Northeastern on their home turf. Tries were scored by numerous players in the 40 - 7 win, a great first game for the Eagles. BC then played UConn at home the next weekend for the Alumni weekend, battling through ankle deep mud against a tough side, eventually holding on to win 17 - 15. In their third regular season game, BCWRFC matched up against BU on the football field. The hard-fought match ended in a 19-19 tie. See pictures from the Fall 2011 Season BC To Move Up to Division 1 BCWRFC has just learned that for the Fall 2011 Season they will be competing in Division 1 of the New England Rugby Football Union., due to restructuring of the league and BC's performance last season. The teams that they will face include UConn, UMass, Army, BU and Northeastern. The official schedule for the Fall will be posted once received, but you can count on more games in the Boston area, and hopefully at home, than the past season! |
