What kind of improv do you do?

We're a "sketch" comedy group, we don't do improv.

I go to Boston College, can I audition for Hello...Shovelhead!?

Sure, but auditions are only held at the start of the academic year.

Is Hello...Shovelhead! like Whose Line is it Anyway?

No, they do improv comedy while we do sketch comedy. Sketch comedy is comprised of original sketches that are prewritten to insure hilarity.

Do you perform sketches from SNL?

No we write and perform our own material written each semester. Plus we're funnier than SNL so there's no point in copying them.

I love improv, can I come to your show?

Sure, but you might be disappointed. We do "sketch" comedy at Hello...Shovelhead!.

Was Amy Poehler in Hello...Shovelhead!?

No. Amy Poehler was in My Mother's Fleabag who you might enjoy because they do improv comedy.

My crazy uncle who went to BC invented the name Hello...Shovelhead!, you know?

I like to write comedy, but I don't like to perform. Can I be a Hello...Shovelhead! writer?

Currently, Hello...Shovelhead! is looking only for writer-performers for our cast. Don't let that discourage you, many former and current cast members started with little or no performance experience.

Will I get a ton of junk mail if I join the mailing list?

No. You'll only get 2 or 3 emails a year informing you of our show dates.

I'm starting to think that you're not an improv group. Is this true?

Yes.

Do you guys do bachelorette parties?

...yes...

We don't do improv...if we tried, it would be a train wreck. All of our sketches are original, and topics vary from Boston College-related humor to pop-culture to family life. Shovelhead humor tends to be cleaner and tasteful, however, we've been known to push a few buttons here and there... We have a large fanbase that comes out to enjoy some of the best entertainment Boston College has to offer and it's important to remember that without you guys, our "history" would be a lot shorter...
