"The Beauty of Southeast Asian Countries"

Welcome

"Sues'day" "Sawatdi" "Sabaai-di" "Mingala Par" "Cháo" – just the many ways to say HELLO in some of the countries of Southeast Asia! Welcome to the Southeast Asian Student Association (SEASA) here at Boston College. We are proud to represent the beautiful countries that make up Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Our goal for SEASA is to empower our community and preserve the splendid cultures that we represent through educational, cultural, social, and political events throughout the year. We hope to open discussions about the social issues that currently affect our population just as much as engaging our members with entertainment and food. We welcome all who share an interest or intrigue for the Southeast Asian culture. Be sure to be on the look out for upcoming events as you won't want to miss it!

Events

3.25.09 - Wednesday, March 25 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

SEASA elections are coming up! Please start considering running for a position on the SEASA board!

3.25.09 - On Wednesday, March 25 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, we will be showing the Academy-Award nominated film "The Betrayal".

During the Vietnam War, the United States government waged its own secret war in the neighboring country of Laos. When the U.S. withdrew, thousands of Laotians who fought alongside American forces were left behind to face imprisonment or execution. One family, the Phrasavaths, made the courageous decision to escape to America. Hoping to find safety, they discovered a different kind of war.

Epic in scope yet devastatingly intimate, The Betrayal is a testament to the resilient bonds of the family and an astonishing tale of survival.
