About the BC Pro-Life Club
The Pro-Life Club of Boston College is dedicated to addressing all life issues, but focuses mostly on the topics of abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty. Members take part in weekly educational outreach and volunteer projects in Boston to aid pregnant women, mothers, and children in need.
Members of our group find many ways to advocate for the cause of life. Many of us participate in various walks and marches around the country including the Respect Life Walk in Boston each October and the March for Life in Washington, DC, in January. Some of our members participate in regular prayer vigils at the local Planned Parenthood. The purpose of the prayer vigils is to create awareness of the abortion issue and to show solidarity with the women and children in crisis pregnancies. Also at the Planned Parenthood we have students who act as Sidewalk Counselors, giving support and guidance to alternatives to abortion.
More importantly, we seek to provide our members and the BC community at large with pertinent information as well coherent and intelligent arguments promoting the dignity of all human life. This is accomplished through our club meetings and various on-campus speakers. Occasionally, to promote this educational cause, we also co-sponsor on-campus events with other groups who are also promoting pro-life causes. Every year, we sponsor a respect for life week on the Boston College campus with a wide variety of events including a Cemetery of the Innocents.
Lastly, we endeavor to raise funds to support the cause of life in our local Boston area. We regularly support A Woman's Concern, a local crisis pregnancy agency, with volunteers and fundraisers. Of course, our membership is committed to compassionate support of any woman who finds herself pregnant and in need of help. We maintain contacts with a variety of organizations with the resources and expertise to counsel and support any women, especially BC students, who may find themselves in a crisis pregnancy situation.
Our Mission
To promote a positive image on the BC campus of what it means to be pro-life.
To be a witness to the dignity of life from conception to natural death (and everything in between).
To defend life by addressing issues not recognized by other clubs on campus.
In particular, to address the injustice of abortion against both mother and child, due to the pertinence of this issue on college campuses.
