Senator Barack Obama Comes to BC
More than just tales about a "skinny kid with a funny name," Barack Obama's memoir, Dreams From My Father, tells a compelling story of a youth struggling to find his place in the world. From living in Hawaii to Indonesia, L.A. to Cambridge and Chicago, Obama's journey is both unique and raw. His quest for his racial identity speaks volumes; his growing pains as a community organizer in Chicago's South Side are inspirational. The first black editor of the Harvard Law Review, just the third black United States Senator, and a true hero of working class folk, Senator Obama is in a class all by himself, and it will be a privilege to have him give this year's Freshman Convocation.
