BCMUN

From the President

Welcome to the new Boston College Model United Nations website! Over the past few years, BCMUN has changed and expanded rapidly. Having previously been defunct, the club benefitted immensely from the leadership of several hands-on executive boards that propelled us to the forefront of the conference circuit and gave the organization new life on campus. This year, we aim to continue this trend and bring BCMUN to even greater heights.

Most notably, we are proud to announce our inaugural conference for regional high schools - EagleMUNC. The conference will not only feature a high standard of enjoyable debate, but also will provide several unique opportunities for our delegates, such as optional training sessions and meetings with the BC Admissions office. Providing this service to prospective students is just one way that BCMUN is committed to playing a positive role in the Boston College community.

We are also committed to maintaining BCMUN
's competitiveness at conferences. Ranked 22nd of all North American teams in the Fall of 2011 by Best Delegate, the club undoubtedly features one of the best teams on the MUN circuit. Building on this successful foundation, our revamped delegate training program for new members promises to sharpen the team even further and to provide ample opportunities to learn more about the present state of international relations. Similarly, we will host public events in an effort to raise awareness of current problems facing the global community.

At the same time, additional club social events will contextualize the competitive and academic aspects of Model UN within the greater purpose of extracurricular activities - an enjoyable addition to the university experience. We welcome anyone willing to learn more about the world and have a good time in the process.

On behalf of the executive board, thank you for your interest in BCMUN. We eagerly look forward to an excellent year in 2012.

All the best,

Christopher Fitzpatrick
