Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies Student Association
Board Opportunities (if you are interested in any of these, please contact the respective officer by email):
- Programming Board (David Nagib, firstname.lastname@example.org):
Would you like to become involved in the "behind the scenes" planning for the many great MEISSA-sponsored events? By joining the Programming Board, you can be responsible for the organizing and publicizing of all of the academic, cultural, and other exciting events that we hope to sponsor this year. The two ways you can do this are through: the Planning Committee, which is responsible for contacting potential speakers and organizing the logistical aspects; and through the Advertising Committee, which promotes these events via flyers, huge banners in the dustbowl, Heights articles, BC cable ads, our very own web site, and any other creative means that you can imagine.
- Research & Publications Board (Anna Cembrola, email@example.com):
The Research committee will maintain research archives in the MEIS office and will assist members in the completion of their individual research projects. We will offer academic advice and point fellow students towards sources that can be useful in writing their academic works. The Publications committee will work with our faculty advisor (Prof Kathleen Bailey) to supervise the layout, selection, editing, and production of MEISSA's newsletters and Journals.
- Outreach Board (Dotsy Zirkle, firstname.lastname@example.org):
The Outreach Committee is looking for you help working with the Career Center, CIPP (Center for International Programs and Partnerships), and other on/off campus groups in order to offer BC students local and international opportunities, whether they are service, research, or career oriented.
- Finance Board (Marclaire Abowd, email@example.com):
As Treasurer, Ryan will need a lot of assistance in creating and submitting budget proposals to SOFC (Student Organization Funding Committee), delegating funds for events, eventually hosting programs and events whose proceeds will help MEISSA acheive its goals, and various other financial matters. If you're interested in finance/accounting/economics, this will be a great experience for you!
