Some of our History...

Until recently, it had been told that Japan Club of Boston College was started in 1991 by three wise white men. In the beginning of 2007, the executive board of JCBC set one of its members to investigate this myth, who eventually uncovered the true origins of the club. It was discovered that the club was started in 1990, a year before the aforementioned three wise men came along, with two Japanese presidents by the names of Reiko Kojima and Stacie Matsumoto. Although it is still uncertain if these two were the pioneers who had the idea of starting the club, what little history that has been handed down through generations of e-boards starts here.

However, most of the club's history between this initial and the current state has been shrouded in mystery, mostly a result of our laziness to record our activities, stories and legacies. Although a chronicle of past officers and e-boards has been included at the bottom of this page, we cannot elaborate on any of them, as no record exists to recount any of their significant achievements, if there had been any (given how much the club has grown in the past couple years, there must be some noteworthy events...).

But that changes now. The JCBC e-board of 2007-2008 is determined to start a blog-ish tradition to have a legitimate history section, and encourages the following e-boards not to let this page die in obscurity.

There are a couple changes we have made in 2007-2008. The Haru Matsuri (Spring Festival) has grown in scale, reputation, and attendance to be our biggest event of the year, and has taken the role of JCBC's version of the culture show. A new position of Culture Chair has been created on the e-board to accomodate, plan and execute this event. The club's website has also been completely redesigned.
