MISSION

It is the Boston College Club Golf Team's purpose to provide the opportunity for the Boston College community to learn to play golf, play golf recreationally, play golf competitively, and use the sport of golf and the Club Golf Team as a forum to forge new relationships with other golfers, both members and non-members. While golf has traditionally been regarded as an elitist game, it is the Boston College Club Golf Team's mission to provide a low-cost, non-discriminatory opportunity for everyone to play and learn the game of golf. The Club will organize, host, and participate in both recreational and competitive golf tournaments both locally and nationally, and participate in fund-raisers and other charitable causes with other Boston College Club Sports Teams.

CURRENT GOALS

The 2008-2009 Academic Year marks the Boston College Club Golf Team's sixth year, and its second under these new organizational guidelines. Our goals for the year are to continue to establish our legitimacy within the university, plan and run recreational events for the Boston College community, building upon those we have hosted ove the past years, and improve our consistency and competitiveness in tournaments outside of our own university. The 2007-2008 season was the first opportunity for the club to compete in the NCCGA National Championships, so we aim to return this year to rival the schools from the South. We will once again host the NCCGA New England Regional Tournament, and continue to hold practices and clinics throughout the school year. Further, we will become active participants in leadership opportunities at Boston College and in our community, and volunteer to benefit philanthropic organizations. Finally, we aim to improve the club's financial situation through fund raisers, donor contributions, and through the Student Organization's Funding Committee.

MEMBERS

Students can become a member of the Boston College Club Golf Team at the beginning of the year by attending the General Meeting in September, and filling out all of the appropriate paper work. All members must pay the dues (as determined in the Fall) and attend and participate in Club Golf events. Members for 2008-2009 will be eligible to purchase club golf shirts and hats, have the ability to attend free indoor practices and clinics, sign up for and participate in our events including the Club Championship and New England Regional Tournaments, and when possible, will be given a price reduction for these events.
