History of Eagle EMS

Eagle EMS was started in 1997 by a group of students who felt the Boston College community could greatly benefit from a student EMS group on campus. This was after an incident at the Flynn Recreation Complex, where a student went into cardiac arrest and despite the best efforts of the Plex staff and BCPD, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Eagle EMS was then provided with police issued radios, EMS equipment and was available to assist the police department with medical calls in the evenings. Over the years, Eagle EMS began to decline and the services being offered began to drop off, however in recent years the organization has been growing. Membership is increasing, and we have become very active participants in providing EMS care during many events across campus.
