One of the main missions of Boston College EMS is to provide EMS education to its members and in addition, the greater Boston College Community. We accomplish this by offering a number of courses ranging from the full EMT certification course each semester, to CPR Classes and everything in between.

For general education questions please contact the Director of Education, Joe Pereira, at

For CPR/First Aid questions please contact the Community Education Coordinator, Alex Lucas, at

For EMT Class/Refresher questions please contact the Advancing Education Coordinator, Andrea McDonagh, at

For CME questions please contact the Continuing Education Coordinator, Jeff Savarino, at or Max Ruge, at

Our types of courses are broken up into 3 categories:

  • CPR Classes
These classes are great for any member of the BC community and require no medical training or past experience.
  • EMT Classes
These are our most in-depth courses covering both EMT-Basic Original and Refresher courses
  • Continuing Medical Education Classes
These classes are offered to EMTs and non EMTs who are interested in learning more about a particular area of Emergence Medicine. Those who are EMTs can receive CME credits through these classes.

Boston College EMS Guide to Reciprocity

The Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services is switching over to NREMT standards and certification requirements. This process can be confusing for many, especially for those looking to recertify or gain reciprocity in MA. To help aid you along in the process, Boston College EMS’ Education Department has created an easy to follow guide on recertifying, staying current on CME credit and getting reciprocity. You can read the guide here.
